St Mary Islington Church, Upper Street, Islington

(viewed 2018 times)
All 3 faces show different times.

A church has been on the current site since the early years after the Norman Conquest. The original building was rebuilt in 1483 and then again in 1754 and 1956.

Opposite Christ Church, Newgate Street

(viewed 1743 times)
On the side of a brick tower (what I assume is a vent for the Central Line between St Pauls and Holborn) on a traffic island opposite the remains of what was Christ Church. Incendiary bombs gutted it during the Blitz. The steeple, also seriously damaged, was re-erected in 1960 but the church was never fully restored.

I think this is stopped but its hard to tell?

(viewed 3083 times)
As I went through Leceister Sq. today I realised that the Swiss Centre has been demolished! It had a magical chiming mechanical clock that animated every hour. I hope it was rescued not RIPed?

Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, London

(viewed 1873 times)
Standing next to Hyde Park, the church known as Christ Church was an asymmetrical gothic composition with a needle spire. Only the tower and spire survive, the rest of the building was replaced by a housing scheme called Spire House in 1983.

On another opticians. 6 St James Street, Walthamstow. Looks a bit like a station clock? St James Street station is 1 minute away but I forgot to stick my head in.
