Hello The One Show Viewers!

(viewed 998 times)
Thanks very much for visiting.

I of course hope that you enjoyed the segment on The One Show, and that the next time you see a stopped clock on your travels you'll think of this site - it's an easy one to remember: http://stoppedclocks.com

The thing about this site is that building up a document of all the stopped public clocks in the UK is a gargantuan effort, so it has been my mission for some time to let as many people as possible know about it's existence, in the hopes that together we can really get these clocks documented, and, ultimately, re-started.

If you can, please do take a moment to join the site, just click here and once signup is completed return here to join the group. Common questions you may have such as how to post to the site are covered in this FAQ post.

By all means do get in touch with me directly if you have any questions, feel you can help in some way, or have a story about a stopped clock near you.

Thanks again for visiting,

Alfie.

Harbour House - Southampton

Both clocks in a very sorry state having even lost their hands and no mechanisms.

Beautiful ornate building now restored to its former glory. The clocks have been re-guilded, new hands and electric mechanisms fitted and back illuminated at night.

St Ethelburga's Church in London

(viewed 1571 times)
This small but beautifully formed church was bombed by the IRA and virtually ruined. Not only was the clock stopped it was totally destroyed.

Replacement dial manufactured in spun copper with a modern electric mechanism and a control system to link the clock to an electromagnetic hammer, which is once again striking the original bell.
